I've been wandering
the palaces of meanings
frozen at the doorway
of not enough.
the demon of `I don't
remember' is a girl
drawing circles
in the magic and the blood.

i anoint myself with my own ashes
alive among the ruins
in the blue shadows
and blind curves
of a corrupted winter
emptied of hunger and thirst
Bast, protector,
deliver me from this passage
of secret roses!
i am shaking

there's no poetry on gravestones
marble streaked with rain
eyes wild at me

painted in living blood
rain tears mud. Come,
walk beyond wild hair
leaftrees and lovedirt
beyond stone

commerce wearied me
almost to death
before it spat me out.
what's left of me is a cottage
filled with fireflies bumping artlessly
and a terrible, ridiculous longing
there's a deep pond out back
a ring of stones for hypnotic fires
a knot of herbs, some silly zinnias
and a blanket on the grass
but who lives here?
a winged stranger.
